ciCLEvia Metro was the kick-off event for the Summer 2017 Open Street Series! Returning to the Clark-Fulton neighborhood where ciCLEvia began last year, the route would have run from MetroHealth Drive to Clark Avenue, closing about 0.5 mile of the iconic West 25th Street! Unfortunately, due to weather, the event was moved inside to the Family Ministry Center on Fulton Avenue. Luckily, with their partnership, we were able to bring the fun indoors and have a vibrant, healthy day with members of the neighborhood and beyond!
This event was brought to life with the help of our partners: The YMCA, Councilman Cummins of Ward 14, MetroHealth, Metro West Community Development Corporation, Tremont West Community Development Corporation, and Neighborhood Family Practice!
The event, had it been in the street, would have featured four unique hubs: No Sweat, Recess, Interfaith, and Wellness. Over 15 activities were lined up for the day, with music and programming for people of all ages and abilities.
At our indoor location, we hosted the entire interfaith programming in the sanctuary space of the Family Ministry Center, as well as Zumba, Tai Chi, Masala Bhangra Indian Dancing, Recess Cleveland, DJ Tito, Studio 11 yoga, and The Movement Project dance. The event drew around 400 people from Clark-Fulton and the Greater Cleveland area to kick-off the ciCLEvia season!
Community partners from more than ten organizations were present to provide health screenings and wellness/recreational information to participants, including:
The MetroHealth System
Cleveland Transformation Alliance
Youth Opportunities Unlimited
The Centers for Families and Children
Foundry Rowing and Sailing Activity
Cleveland EMS Community Engagement
Cleveland Department of Public Health/Moms First
Studio Go, Cleveland Museum of Art
The Movement Project
